UK to Canaries Cruise. Depart Hamble 8th October 2012
This is a great opportunity to log some Ocean miles sailing with our Ocean Yachtmaster Skipper and Yachtmaster 1st mate.
Enjoy some fantastic ocean sailing including crossing the infamous Bay of Biscay.

Leg 1 - Approx 870 Nautical Miles
Depart the Hamble River where Great Escape is based. The first day will be familiarization staying in Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight the first night. Early the next day you will depart bound for Bayona at the mouth of the Ria de Vigo. This beautiful historic town has a wealth of cobbled streets and the famous Monte Real Yacht Club house in an old Castle. Set sail from here for Cascais Marina on the Tiber River at the mouth of the Lisbon Estuary.
Leg 2 – Approx 800 Nautical Miles
Depart Cascais bound for Funchal, Capital of Madeira. Berth in the historic harbour and visit the attractive town of Funchal.
There may be time for a Toboggan ride down the steep slopping streets
Depart Funchal en route to the Selvagem Islands where an overnight stop can be enjoyed subject to favourable weather conditions. We then sail for Garn Canaria in the Canary Islands completing the trip in Las Palmas.
Great Escape is our Jeanneau SO 52.2. She is fully equipped for Ocean Sailing and operates under a Category 0 MCA Coding. She has completed nine round trip tansats from new. Accommodation is in four double cabins, she has 4 heads with Showers. The total number on the boat is limited to 8 in order that the saloon/galley area is kept clear therefore no off watch crewmembers should be disturbed.

Your skipper will be
Emily Pearson who completed the round trip in 2010/2011 as skipper of Great Escape. She is a qualified Yachtmaster Ocean Professional as well as an accomplished Instructor, and has completed ARC2008, 2009 as skipper of Skyelark of London and 2010 as Skipper of Great Escape.
Emily is a real water baby, there are few places that she hasn’t sailed, with over 120,000 nautical miles covered! Emily’s sailing CV reads like an atlas, from running challenge boats to Antarctica to racing round Britain and Ireland, Emily has been in every ocean on the planet in a variety of boats and conditions.
Our 1st Mate will be a commercially endorsed yacht master.
The cost of the trip is £1,200 for the whole trip. We will exceptionally take crew for one leg at a price of £700. The price includes all food and soft drinks whilst at sea, all running costs of the boat incl, Fuel Water and Berthing. It excludes the cost of meals in harbour which are taken ashore at local
restaurants, Flights and Personal Travel Insurance which we require all crew to have.
