RORC ROLEX Fastnet Race 2011 Campaign
The Rolex Fastnet Race offers the novice and experienced sailor alike, a great sailing adventure!
Join the fleet of 300 yachts as they battle each other, and the elements, to compete in one of yachting's greatest offshore races.
The Rolex Fastnet Race leaves Cowes and heads down the English Channel, before rounding Land's End and heading across the exposed Irish Sea.
Once around the Fastnet Rock, the final leg circles the Scilly Isles before the dash to Plymouth and a welcome celebration ashore.
In total the Rolex Fastnet Race covers just over 600 miles of challenging offshore conditions. This race really is for the truly
adventurous and, consequently, as with other offshore races, is not without an element of risk.
To fully prepare you for this race, we propose a full programme of training, which exceeds the minimum requirements of the Royal
Ocean Racing Club. This training includes the 2 day ISAF Offshore Safety Course, a race training weekend, and 3 RORC qualifying races.
In total our campaign offers you approximately 1100 miles of offshore racing, in the excellent hands of our Skipper and 1st Mate.
All aspects of the campaign will be carried out on our Jeanneau 52.2 Great Escape which meets the most stringent of MCA requirements
for ocean racing. This ensures that you are in the safest possible hands. The boat is raced with a compliment of 10 including the
Skipper and 1st Mate.
